MRF Mourns the Loss of Peter Sanborn 1954 – 2020
With a heavy heart, we report that long time president and co-founder of MRF, Peter Sanborn, passed away on November 17th after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Peter started his career in the high-temperature furnace industry in January 1980 as a mechanical draftsman at Centorr, Inc. He became a respected furnace designer and ten years later joined the startup of MRF in 1990. Peter became President of MRF in 1993 and remained president until 2019 when MRF was acquired by IDI. He worked at MRF for thirty years and remained active as a valued furnace designer throughout his entire time at MRF.
From the start of his forty-year career in the furnace industry, Peter’s joy was assisting to develop high-temperature systems for ever changing challenges from the ceramic and metal industries. Because of his extensive furnace experience, he was a valued and active member of the MRF engineering staff as well as the Board of Directors. He served on the Board until the time of his illness.
His loss is especially difficult for the many employees that he mentored, befriended, and assisted, through good times and bad.
If you knew Peter and wish a leave a few words, you are invited to do so below. We will add it to our internal display in honor of our long time friend.
